A New Site for Ministry

Youth are Now Working in 6 Communities!

On October 1st, the youth had their first children's class in the Shalom Church in El Seybo.  The whole team went to El Seybo that day to help with the kick-off!  Even though it was raining outside, we still had more than 50 children in attendance.  There was worship, a great Bible story, a craft, a snack and lots of opportunities to love these children in the name of Jesus Christ.

With the opening of this site, the youth ministry now will now be working in six different communities each week and reach over 200 children each week!

Each week they worship together, they share a Bible Story, do a craft, get extra practice on reading, writing and arithmetic, share a snack and build positive relationships with their teachers who are young, energetic, caring Christian role models.

We praise God for opening another door for this ministry and pray that God will touch the hearts of these children, so that at a young age, that they would accept Jesus as their Savior.

I don't have the opportunity to visit the classes on a regular basis now that I live in Santo Domingo.  When I saw the lesson on Saturday, I was so amazed at the growth of the TEACHERS!  They delivered a lesson that was dynamic and engaging with props and action.  They worked together so well and were very well prepared.  Through it all, the students were on the edges of their seats.  It was great to see the teachers were having fun, too.

With the new ministry in El Seybo and the three new discipleship classes that will open next month, our monthly expenses will increase significantly.  We are still looking for people to invest in this ministry to help us cover these additional costs.  Please contact me or follow the instructions below if you'd like to partner with us.  Thanks!
A lot of people have asked how we are doing after Hurricane Matthew went through.  In the part of town we live in there was a LOT of rain for several days and some wind.  The drainage systems in the streets are horrible, so the streets in front of our house were pretty flooded as in the picture above taken near our home.

We were very fortunate because the flooding did NOT make it into our home.  In other parts of the Dominican Republic, particularly the areas near the rivers, people are more vulnerable and had to evacuate their homes.

Overall, the damage we had here in the Dominican Republic is very little compared to what they are going through in Haiti.   The pictures I've seen, and the stories I've heard, what they experienced is unimaginable to me.  Our prayers go out to them and others who have lost so much in the storm.  May God have mercy.
On Saturday, we had a gathering for all of the pastors and leaders of the churches using Community Bible Study materials.  The churches recently finished the study of Acts and are now doing a study of the book of Daniel.

When it came time to share about how things are going and how they see God moving, I was blown away by all the stories.

One group said that people are falling in love with God's Word and growing deeper in their relationship with Him.  They see that people are motivated to study the Bible at home each day to answer the questions and then are eager to come to class each week to share what they've learned in their groups.  Praise God!
On another note, if you haven't heard Elliot's announcement, he wants to let you know that he is excited to be a BIG BROTHER!

Though he doesn't really understand what that means yet, he is excited to have a baby in the house!  We are too!  Baby Santana #2 is expected in April 2017.  We appreciate your prayers!
