The Lord Has Helped Us

ALL, Christ for Romania

1 Samuel 7:12 Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

Dear Friends,

God is so worthy of praise. He is so kind to us. This last month has been wonderful. For starters, I was sick for a while with pneumonia. My first day back at one of the schools I worked for they told me they could no longer afford to pay me and let me go. Just like that with no warning, with no two weeks, I no longer had the job that provided about 60% of my income. I have a pregnant wife, and two small children. I was budgeting for our baby’s birth. Let’s just say I was shocked.

It was amazing how God prepared the way for me to receive this. Just the night before, I was talking to Andrea, discussing how I would like to work just 1 job (instead of 3), and use the rest of the time for evangelistic ministry. We talked about how nice it would be if God raised up people to support us in ministry. And even mentioned the school I’d quit. Andrea said it would be best if we had support first. I agreed and we went to bed. The next day, that very school let me go.

God was so kind and gave such comforts to us. Obviously there are the initial fears, which are not good, but very natural. That very night, after they let me go, we arrived in our daily Bible reading as a family to 1 Samuel chapter 7. In that chapter we came to this verse:

1Sa 7:12 Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

What a help is was to remember how far God has brought us, to remember His love and care over the years. There are a lot of verses in the Bible, yet God had us reading just the one we needed that night and in the days to come.

Our Father sure is kind. He kept encouraging us, with love and prayers from others. Even His material care has seemed to increase. In fact we have been eating so good and healthy I’m almost ashamed. God is so very kind to us.

Being free from this job has been great for my health family and ministry. I’m finally starting to recover after being sick for practically 4 months. I’ve got some more time for rest, helping my family, and working on ministry projects. Because of this extra days, we were able to go as a family to Brasov, for Andrea’s check up with the doctor for our baby. The ultrasound was beautiful. We’re still not sure if it’s a boy or a girl, but a earlier ultrasound, has Andrea thinking it’s a boy. We’ll love and thank God for either one.
Brasov is a city about 2 and a-half hours away by train from where we live. Yet a private clinic there is less than half the price of one here in Bucharest. And several people we know have had good experiences there. It may not sound like much to you, but this is very important. Here in Romania the public medical system is so bad you probably can’t even imagine it. Many in the public hospital only take care of you if you bribe them. It can be a matter of life and death for your child.

To help you understand, my friend’s father and mother came to visit him from Jordan. He ended up having excruciating pain in his knee that caused him to go to the ER. Besides the horrible time he had there, when he actually saw a doctor, the doctor (without even looking at the x-ray) told him that they will need to operate and replace his knee. Upon returning to Jordan, and going to the doctor’s there, the doctor informed him that he just needed to take an anti-inflammatory pill. Here in Romania they actually wanted to replace his knee. A butcher is an understatement. I hope this helps you to understand how important having our baby at this private clinic in Brasov is to us, and how grateful we are to God for taking care, so that it may work out. All of this is Lord willing, but we are so grateful for His care.

I raise my Ebenezer. God has helped us this far.

· Thank you for your prayers for God’s provision, and protection for us. Please pray especially, that He would stir up His children to join with us in preaching the gospel through their support.

· Please pray for Andrea, Hannah, and Demetrius as they all battle with colds.

· Praise God for the various video’s I’ve been able to finish and work on. Here is a link to a great interview from our time in Brasov (it’s in Romanian)

· And another one in Romanian from here in Bucharest with Marius

· Some of you probably watched the English interview with Freddy from Brasov that was linked in our last newsletter One of the highlights of this trip was that I actually got to meet up with him again. The brothers I was with, particularly Adi Martin, have kept in good touch with him. He has been going to church, and to me looked like a different man. Let us pray that God has done a work in him and truly saved his soul.

· The pastor of our church is leaving to speak in the US for 6 weeks. Lord willing some of us men will be preaching while he is away, and also leading the Bible study. Please pray for God’s help in that.

· Thank you for your continued prayers for Andrea and our baby. So far this has been a pretty good pregnancy. While we do want a healthy child, far above that we would request prayers for this child’s and our other children’s salvation.

May God keep you, I and the rest of His people…

* *  ASV    Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this cause the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Iată ce fel de dragoste a arătat Tatăl, la noi, că noi ar trebui să fie numit copii ai lui Dumnezeu, și astfel suntem. Pentru aceasta cauza lumea nu știe noi, pentru că nu-L cunoștea.
